Set your daily capacity

Tell Billine how many hours of real focus you have in a day, and let your calendar take out the meetings.

Guide

Your capacity is the number at the end of Today’s track: how much work fits in a day. It’s hours of real focus, not hours awake. Most people have three to five.

Set it

  1. Open Settings: the gear on Today, or ⌘, on the Mac.
  2. In Your day, set Daily capacity: hours from 0 to 16, and minutes in steps of 15. The least is 30 minutes.

The preview track under it shows what a day looks like at that size. The default is 4 hours.

Take out your meetings

Billine can read how busy your calendar is and subtract it from today.

  1. In Settings › Calendar, turn on Subtract calendar busy time, and allow access when asked. You can also tap Allow calendar on the card that appears on Today.
  2. Set your Working hours. Only meetings inside them count.
  3. Under Calendars, choose which ones count. Subscribed calendars and birthdays start off.

Billine only reads when you’re busy: never event titles, and it never changes anything. All-day events, free time and cancelled events take nothing.

Good to know

Meetings come off today’s capacity. Upcoming shows each day against your plain capacity.

When the day is over

If you commit more than your capacity, the track goes over and says so. That’s the point: the decision about what gives is yours, made in the morning, not the day’s, made at six.
