Privacy Policy

Your tasks stay yours.

Billine has no account, no analytics and no ads. Your tasks live on your devices and, with Billine Pro, in your own iCloud account. We can't see them.

In short. Billine keeps your tasks on your device. If you use Billine Pro, they also sync through your own iCloud account, which we can't read. The app sends us nothing: no analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers. Apple handles payments, and we never learn your name or card: Apple only tells us, without identifying you, when a subscription starts, renews or ends. The only personal information we hold is your email address if you sign up for our announcements, and whatever you send us when you write to us.

Who we are

Billine and billine.io are published by Saul Alejandro Martínez Castelo, Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described here. Write to [email protected] about anything in this policy.

This policy covers the Billine app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and this website.

What the app keeps, and where

Everything you put in Billine (tasks, notes, estimates, dates, projects, areas, labels, the places you choose for reminders, your settings and each task's history) is stored in a database on your device, and the files and photos you attach to tasks in a folder beside it. It doesn't go to us, and Billine works fully without a connection.

Billine has no sign-up and no account with us. Deleting the app deletes what it stored on that device. You can export your tasks at any time, free, as JSON or CSV. Exports leave out attached files; save those from the task itself.

Permissions you can grant

Billine asks for each permission only when you turn on the feature that needs it, and works without any of them. You can change them any time in your device's settings.

PermissionWhat Billine does with it
CalendarsReads when you're busy, so meetings can come off today's capacity. Your events are read on the device, never changed, and never sent anywhere.
RemindersReads your reminders only when you choose to import them, on the device. It never changes them.
LocationLets a reminder ring when you arrive at or leave a place you chose, on iPhone and iPad. Billine asks only while you're using it. The system watches for the place and rings the reminder; Billine itself never sees where you are. The place you choose (its name and map coordinates) is saved with the task like any other detail. When you search for a place, what you type goes to Apple Maps, under Apple's Privacy Policy.
NotificationsRings the reminders you set. They are scheduled on your device; no server is involved.
Siri and ShortcutsLets you add and complete tasks by voice or in shortcuts. Apple processes Siri requests under Apple's Privacy Policy.
SpotlightAdds your tasks to your device's search index, so you can find them from the system search. The index stays on your device.

Attaching a photo or a file uses the system's own picker, which hands Billine only what you choose. Billine doesn't ask for access to your photo library.

iCloud sync (Billine Pro)

With Billine Pro and Sync with iCloud turned on, Billine copies your data to a private database in your own iCloud account, so your devices stay in step. Attached files go with their tasks and count toward your iCloud storage. Apple stores and protects it under Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to your iCloud account or anything in it.

Turning sync off on a device stops it there. To delete the copy in iCloud, manage Billine's storage in your iCloud settings.

Purchases

Billine Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment, and we don't receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details. The app checks your subscription with Apple on your device.

So we can count subscribers and help when you write to us, Apple notifies our server when a Billine Pro subscription starts, renews, fails to renew, ends or is refunded. Each notification carries a transaction number Apple assigns, the plan, its dates and price, whether it's a free trial, and the country of the App Store. None of it tells us who you are. If you write to us about your subscription with the order ID from Apple's receipt, we can ask Apple about that purchase to help you.

We keep these records while they're useful for those two purposes, and never combine them with your tasks, which we can't see.

What we never do

  • No analytics, usage tracking or profiling, in the app or on this site.
  • No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
  • No third-party code in the app that collects data.
  • We don't sell personal information, and we share it with no one except the services that carry email to and from us, only to deliver it.

Crash reports

If you turn on Share with App Developers in your device's Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple sends us anonymous crash reports and diagnostics for Billine. They don't identify you, and we use them only to fix bugs. You can turn this off any time in the same place.

This website

billine.io sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Like any web server, ours records each request (your IP address, browser and the page asked for) in logs we use to keep the site running and secure. We keep them only as long as that needs, and never use them to build a profile.

Everything on the site, fonts and images included, comes from billine.io and its own addresses: cdn.billine.io for the site's files, media.billine.io for images in announcements. Your browser contacts no one else.

Announcement emails

If you sign up for announcements on this site, we keep your email address, the language you signed up in, and when you signed up and confirmed. We use them only to send Billine's announcements: new releases, new features and notices. Nothing is sent until you confirm with the link in the first email.

Emails are delivered by Resend, Inc. (United States), which processes your address for us only to deliver them and report whether they arrived. We don't track opens or clicks.

Every email has an unsubscribe link, and mail apps that support it show a one-click unsubscribe. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address marked as unsubscribed, only so we never email it again. To have it erased completely, write to [email protected].

When you write to us

If you write to us, by email or with the form on our support page, we receive your email address, your name if your email shows it, whatever you write and attach, and the device details you choose to add. We use them only to answer you, and reply by email.

Email to us passes through Cloudflare, Inc. (United States), which routes it to our server, and the files you attach are kept in our private storage with Cloudflare. Our replies are delivered by Resend, Inc. (United States). Both handle it for us only to deliver and store it.

If you write about Billine Pro and give us the order ID from Apple's receipt, we may link your message to the subscription record described under Purchases to help you.

We keep a conversation for 24 months after its last message, then delete it. Ask, and we'll delete it sooner.

Children

Billine isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Since the app collects nothing, the only case is an email. If a child has written to us, ask and we'll delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the use of personal information about you. For your tasks, you exercise these directly: they're on your devices and in your iCloud account. For anything you've sent us, write to [email protected] and we'll answer within 20 business days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If Billine starts handling information differently, we'll update this policy before the change takes effect and change the date at the top.
